from favorites to the garbage out there
check it out after the jump
- ETNIES - best for cheap option
you can get a pair off amazon for around 20$, danscomp and many other distributors deal with the company. very common at malls and over all easy to find. do not expect to spend 20 or 30$ on a shoe and have it last like a shoe of higher quality you spent more on.
the price is fair and they have higher quality options. they do not disappoint me however i tend to stay within the 20-40$ range.
nice grip, they do not last like an ipath or nike would. however for the price and fact that compared to most other shoe brands. you can pick up 2 pairs of etnies for the price of 1 pair of a more expensive brand.
etnies are a great shoe if you are getting into bmx, skateboarding, or scooters and you want something cheap. no reason to spend 80$ on nikes cuz you read they were good. make sure thats what you actually want first.
bmx specific models available that offer a great option that other companies dont.
i find them to be better then vans, more padding, not like osiris or nike high tops but they are great for the price. easily a nice go to when on a budget
-IPATH- best overall
excellent for what you pay for. ipath grasshopper stands out, easily one of my favorites. ipath has a nice range of price however the iconic xls grip is not the best. they have models below the grasshopper however its well worth the couple bucks to get the grasshoppers.
the velcro strap is nice to, helps keep those laces chilled out yet keep your shoes on.
for skateboarding i prefer something like the huf models i have, however for bmx and scooters. ipath is king
ben supports the reeds heavily, another great model.
-OSIRIS- only for style/comfort
they have cheap options, at that level they are comparable to etnies. good shoes for the price, nie styles and comfort. you get what you pay for at that level.
spend around 70 - 80 or so and you get yourself the high tops. nice shoes with better styles and colors. for the most part i see the high tops more common. much more popular then their mids and lows.
grip is ok in the beginning. wears down quick and the shoe overall develops holes easily. i have more experience with the high tops. every time i buy a pair i get only 2 or so months out of them and am left sadly disappointed.
style is all there, maybe they will get you laid, they look good new. but the rate at wich they wear and the grip is just not worth it.
comfort makes it seem worth it however if you can find a style you like more from nike for the same price. go with the nikes.
-NIKE- best overall high price yet well worth it
great price points, there low, mids and highs are all fair quality for what you pay. the high top dunks are well worth 70-80$.
grip is dope, however some models are not good for bmx or skateboarding at all. the nike dunks i picked up are great. mavericks are great, plenty of good options just make sure to check em out first.
comfort is nice on all models,
durability is great as well. the grip stays for a long time and the overall shoe looks good after heavy sessions.
-HUF- good skateboarding shoe
could pick em up for cheap on amazon the huf pepper skate shoe is what i run now for skateboarding
good padding, nice grip, ok durability. however for a cheaper price you can get a pair of etnies that will last similarly. i like the hufs tho they are comfortable and well made.
huf gives you more now that they are a bigger company, defenately worth checking out
-VANS- cheap garbage
the cheapest option i will review, the cheapest option anyone should really consider. for less then 20$ its not even worth it. amazon has em cheapest
their more expensive options are still pretty bad. obviously a skateboarding specific company. but even for that i would say stay away. etnies has better options at a similar price point that will get you a much higher quality shoe
nice grip for a little while however they wear so fast its insane. not worth it even for that cheap price. too thin on the top so your feet will be sorry after riding bmx. padding is nice to have between your foot and the cranks
in short horrible shoes, fucking hate them.
-DC- more cheap garbage
-another garbage company for shoes, they stopped sponsoring bmx riders and their shoes are not good enough to fuck with.
-FALLEN- only heard from people who like them, not much negative talk at all about them
comparable to etnies, the smaller companies such as fallen give you alot. nice shoes for a fair price, nice comfort, grip, and durability. if you do not find them cheap enough then i would go with ipath grasshoppers
